Queensland Tropical Reforestation

This project restores 850 hectares of degraded tropical rainforest in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area buffer zone, creating a critical wildlife corridor between fragmented rainforest patches. The planting methodology uses over 120 native rainforest species, with density and species mix calibrated to replicate natural forest structure. The project specifically targets habitat for the Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius), an endangered keystone species.

Riparian zone restoration along 12km of the Daintree River improves water quality and reduces sediment runoff to the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.
